Former member of Eugene Planning Commission writes 'Cohousing plan ideal option for Oakleigh Lane'

In the Eugene Register-Guard, a former member of the Eugene Planning Commission writes, "In its Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan the city of Eugene has assigned a high priority to the connectivity of the bicycle/pedestrian system. Our [Oakleigh Meadow Cohousing] future shared-use connection would further the city’s connectivity goals and, more importantly, provide transportation choices to residents of Oakleigh Lane and the surrounding River Road area."

"Our eight two-story buildings will contain 28 residences on land zoned for 32," wrote a letter writer in support of Oakleigh Meadow Cohousing. "Buildings will be grouped fairly close together, per cohousing design, to retain as much open space on the meadow as possible (public access to adjacent city land won’t be affected). In contrast to the existing, mostly single-story, single-family homes on Oakleigh Lane, that will be a change. But must it be viewed as a change for the worse?"
